The initial visit will be 60- 75 minutes and will provide me with an opportunity to hear more about your concerns, history, goals of treatment and for me to share my initial impressions. During the consultation period, we may decide to meet for several sessions in order for there to be plenty of time for me to get to know you and for you to get a sense of my approach. I strive to create a warm, collaborative spirit, providing recommendations and guidance, as well as respect for the path of each individual. If we decide to continue treatment together, subsequent visits are 45 minutes, preferably on a weekly basis, as this is how I believe treatment is most effective.
If we decide that medications are warranted, we can discuss starting those in conjunction with therapy. We can also discuss whether you would like to decrease or discontinue current medications and how we may work together to meet that goal. If you are currently working with a therapist, I also offer 20 minute medication visits.
My approach is psychodynamic and psychoanalytic in nature, while also incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy. I enjoy working with people in depth, over time, in order to explore what causes distress in their lives and how they may come to enjoy life in a richer and more fulfilling way.
